Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, in coordination with Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin Raed Al-Manakh and Chairman of the National Committee for Arbitration of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, and Mr. Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development and Ambassador Hisham Badr, National Coordinator of the initiative and its facilitating committee; On extending the application period to participate in the second round of the initiative, which was launched under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and by a decision of the Prime Minister, until the first of next September.
The extension of the application period came based on the results and recommendations of the Steering Committee meeting on the sixth of July and the directives of Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Raed Al-Manakh and Chairman of the National Committee for Arbitration of the initiative, and Ambassador Hisham Badr, the national coordinator of the initiative, in the presence of Eng. , Ministry of Environment, International Cooperation, National Council for Women, Initiative Working Group at the Ministry of Planning.
For her part, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed recommended the need to intensify the efforts of all concerned parties before closing the door to apply for the initiative in its second session. Al-Said explained that the extension of the application period came to give a greater opportunity for young people to participate in universities and schools and present their projects that provide solutions to the problems of the environment and climate change.

Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, stressed the importance of extending the period to the first of September, which allows giving more time to the governorates to intensify efforts to spread awareness of the concept of climate change and go deeper within the centers and villages in the governorates to spread the goals and mechanism of project progress through the initiative and communication with civil society, associations and private sector companies in the governorates to encourage them to join their projects. within the initiative.
During the meeting, Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Coordinator and Head of the Initiative's Organizing Committee, stressed the importance of intensifying efforts in the last stage before closing the door for progress for the second session. Badr also reviewed the achievements of the initiative in its first session, the efforts of the initiative team in the second session, and the exercises that were held to spread awareness nationwide. , stressing the importance of sustaining the initiative by achieving financial support, providing financing, and spreading awareness, in addition to reaching the largest number of project owners and providing them with technical support to create projects with a strong impact.
The National Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects explained that the involvement of university students, schools and youth in all governorates of the Republic requires giving them the opportunity and sufficient time to improve their projects and advance them in the initiative, especially after the specialized training programs that were provided through the initiative to help improve the models presented to achieve maximum benefit.
For his part, Eng. Khaled Mustafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, pointed out the importance of enhancing the participation of green and smart projects in the initiative, as well as the importance of direct benefit from participation in order to provide solutions to environmental problems, climate change and achieve sustainability.
Dr. Hisham Al-Helbawy, Assistant Minister of Local Development, explained that the initiative's goal is to raise environmental and technological awareness by being face to face with the citizen and to intensify the efforts of the governorates through the executive committees in each governorate to ensure the continuity of the initiative and support progress with the largest number of projects that are feasible and compatible with standards, pointing out He pointed out that the Organizing Committee is currently cooperating in studying ways to enhance the institutionalization and sustainability of the work mechanisms of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects to deepen the benefit of the initiative in translating the country's green growth strategies and bringing about real and sustainable change.
At the end of the meeting, representatives of the Ministries of Environment, Communications and Information Technology, and International Cooperation, as well as the National Council for Women, reviewed a number of proposals, and emphasized the provision of all means of support from their institutions for the second round of the initiative.
